Assignment Manager is your hub for viewing, editing, and reviewing what you’ve assigned to pupils.
Note: if you haven't assigned content to pupils, Assignment Manager will display an empty page. To learn how to create writing prompts, assessments, and or how to assign content directly to pupils, go to Assigning Content to Pupils.
Assignments
Assignment Manager can be found from the Classrooms button on the My DE homepage and is your hub for viewing, editing, and reviewing what you’ve assigned to pupils. The assignment table is the core view of the manager. This sortable table displays everything assigned to pupils and classes.
- Start Date: the date the content or assignment was assigned to pupils.
- Due Date: a date selected by the teacher when assigned to pupils. In most cases, pupils can still access an assignment and submit after its due date. Past-due assignments move to the Past Due tab on a pupil's dashboard.
- Title: the name of the assignment. This name also links to the assignment document or resource.
- Type: the assignment or resource type (e.g., video, assessment, Studio board, etc.).
- Assignee: the name of the class or the individual pupil content is assigned to.
- Completed: the number of pupils that have completed the assignment out of the total number of assignees.
- Actions: most assignments have three actions:
- View Details: displays the table with all the assignees and the status of completion.
- Edit Date: Change the Start and/or Due Date.
- Unassign: Cancel the assignment.
Filter Assignments
Use the Update Filters button to locate assignments by class, type of assignment, and due date range. By default, assignments are filtered for all types of assignment and all classes for the last 90 days.
Pupil Reports
Pupil Reports provides individual pupil results for everything assigned by the viewing teacher. Pupil Reports displays a list of all pupils associated with the teacher. Search for a pupil by last name, and sort the table by the any of the columns. When you find the pupil, select their name to view their assignments report.
Once a pupil is selected, the pupil assignments report displays all assignments for the pupil assigned by the viewing teacher. Teachers will not see assignments assigned by other teachers. Select Download to export the report to a CSV file. These files are often compatible for upload to external grade books or to learning management systems (LMS).
- Assignment: select the assignment’s name to preview the assignment.
- Type: the assignment or resource type (e.g., video, assessment, Studio board, etc.).
- Due Date: a date selected by the teacher when assigned to pupils. Past-due assignments move the Past Due tab on a pupil's dashboard.
- Status: statuses include Not Started, In Progress, Submitted, etc.
- Results: displays the grade of assignments that have scoring, such as Assessments.
- Submitted: the date the pupil submitted an assignment.
- Actions: each assignment has a set of actions based on the assignment type. All actions - such as change due date will apply only to the specific pupil.
From the Pupil Reports page, teachers also have the ability to delete an attempt. When an attempt is deleted, it deletes all responses and appears as a new assignment in a pupil's account. To delete an attempt:
- Open Classrooms from the My DE homepage.
- Click on Pupil Reports in the left menu.
- Click on a pupil name.
- Find the assignment and click the rubbish bin to delete the attempt.
Checking Pupil Work
Once pupils have begun to complete an assignment, an additional Dashboard icon will appear under actions. Click this button to access a screen of results for a specific assignment.
In the Results Dashboard, you can click on the coloured icons to look at how the pupil answered the specific question. Click the Download Results by Question button to download the results into an Excel spreadsheet.
