Users with Admin access to platform can bulk import teachers, students and classes into the platform.

If you are the school administrator, but do not have the Admin dashboard tile on your homepage, please email schoolsupport@discoveryed.com so we can transition your account to have Admin access.

Step 1
You will need to extract teacher and student data from your MIS system into a .CSV file. Please see our CSV requirements article to check what data is required.
Step 2
Prepare your Teacher and Student CSV files for upload as per the CSV requirements article. Once your teachers and students are uploaded, you can decide if you want to complete a class and register upload. If you prefer, teachers can create their own classes manually and add students to their classes.
Step 3
Check your files before uploading. Below are the most common errors encountered with the upload.
- For each template, all column headers must be present and all required fields must be populated. Header order must match the template exactly.
- Please ensure that you 'copy and paste' the SchoolID column so it remains the same in the entire column. Please do not 'drag' this column down.
- Teacher and Student IDs can be any format (for e.g. DP123). These are unique identifiers for users used to link users to classes and also to bulk update any changes made to those users (like usernames or email).
- Usernames across Discovery Education must be unique and at least 6 characters long.
- Tip for student usernames - the most common username in the platform is <<first initial_last name>> so this is likely to throw errors. We recommend that you do not use this format but instead add a prefix to this username to ensure it is unique.
- Please ensure that each file is saved in .csv format and that there are no spaces in the CSV filename.
Note: You cannot uploads passwords in bulk. Teacher passwords are set by themselves once accounts are created. Student passwords are created by the teachers or the Admin through the Classrooms
Step 4
Follow the bulk import process article to import your files and remember to check status on the 'History' tab after you have uploaded your file.
Step 5
Once the teacher accounts are created, they can get started with the new user journey article.
