Flexible features allow you to play and download videos, save them to a folder in My Content, or share them with a friend. Content tabs provide quick access to smaller video clips, video transcripts, citation information, related materials, and other titles in the same series.
Video Features
1. QuickList
Select QuickList to add a video to your personal list which is accessible from any page. QuickList is an easy way to bookmark videos of interest and to curate resources as you sort search results for comparison or review later.
2. Share
There are several ways to share content, including email, favourite links, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Edmodo or community sites.
3. Assign
You can assign a video to specific pupils, a group, or your whole class. Note: you can only use this feature after your pupils have been uploaded to Discovery Education.
4. Additional Options
Select the ellipses (...) to open additional options:
- Create with Studio: Select Create with Studio to add a video to a new Studio Board. It will open a Studio board to allow for further editing.
- My Content: If you plan to use a video frequently, want to organize resources into folders for lessons or units, or want to share it with others in your school or district, you can add it to your My Content folders.
- Download: To download a video and save it to your computer, flash drive, or other device, select the Download icon. Select the file quality and save the file to your desired location. You can also download the closed caption file. Once the download is complete, follow the path you the download location you selected to find the video files on your computer.
5. Details
The Details tab tells more about the resource, including a description, suggested year groups and, publisher.
6. Related topics
Displays topics which might be related to the video content with links to additional resources.
7. Transcript
You can find a full text transcript of each video in the tab below it. Closed captioned videos have the text available in a searchable transcript format. Search for a term to see it highlighted throughout the transcript and click on any section of the transcript while a video is playing to jump to that portion of the video.
8. More like this
Displays resources linked to the selected content with descriptions and timings.
9. Citations
Dynamic citation information is provided for all Discovery Education resources. Click on Citations to view MLA, APA, and Chicago Manual of Style formats. Citations may be copied and pasted into projects that include Discovery Education content.
