Users of all Discovery Education services now have individual logins whether a teacher or a pupil. An oft-requested feature, this brings many benefits to all users including enhanced functionality and personalisation options that mean your Discovery Education account becomes truly unique to the individual needs of each teacher. It also means that all users can now access Discovery Education resources, wherever they have access to an internet connection and a digital device.
Individual teacher logins
As a teacher you can organise content in the Experience platform to be specific to your individual needs, assign resources, quizzes or projects to pupils and seamlessly deliver your lessons whether they are taking place in-person or remotely. This is ideally suited to support your blended learning needs.
There are a number of elements of the Discovery Education homepage which are customised according to the individual teachers' login.
Recommended items are curated by the team at Discovery Education to offer useful personalised recommendations for content, events and teaching ideas.
- My services section displays the specific Discovery Education services the schools subscribes to.
- My channels is a fully customisable where each individual teacher can save the resources they use most. Specific channels can be easily pinned to this page, dragged to a new position, or removed completely.
In addition, the order in which each of these sections displays can also be adjusted by each the individual user to suit their needs.
Each individual user account receives access to an online storage space of 1GB where you can store not just content from Discovery Education, but also your own video, image, sound and document files including IWB files.
Individual users have access to the very powerful Studio. Studio offers creation tools and structured collaboration features that let teachers and pupils design, build, and share content in new and creative ways. With individual logins each teacher can create and personalise their Studio resources to be specific to the needs of their class.
With individual logins for both pupils and teachers, you can now quickly and easily turn any Discovery Education resource into a monitorable and trackable pupil assignment.
Wondering where that great resources you saw last week went? Each individual user is able to quickly research and save lesson materials for later review using the QuickList. The QuickList is specific to the individual’s user account so you can always access the materials you know you need.
The classrooms feature underpins the core functionality of the platform. It allows the individual teacher, through their login, to share and assign every Discovery Education resource seamlessly to their pupils as well as being able to monitor and track each individual pupil’s progress. Where a pupil may not be learning in the classroom environment, teachers can also chat to pupils in real-time and provide immediate comments and feedback.
Through their individual logins, every teacher gets access to What works well and Spotlight on Strategies for on-tap guidance and support for all aspects of digital teaching and learning.
In addition many channels in Espresso feature incredibly useful Teacher area with guidance and support specific to the delivery of that particular subject and topic.
Usernames - The format for a teacher username is <<work_email_address>>
Passwords are user set.
We also offer Office 365 and Google SSO. This will allow teachers to log into the Experience platform using their school O365/Google accounts.
Note that you will require an email address for all users.
Individual pupil logins
Pupils with individual logins now get access to a brand new pupil interface specifically focussed around their assignments and learning resources.
With an individual pupil login, all children get quick access to all the resources they need or have been assigned, whether learning at home or in school.
Through their individual login, each pupil has access to a dashboard clearly displaying all of their specific assignments and assessments.
The ability for pupils to collaborate on projects and assignments wherever they are learning, comes as part of their individual logins. Teachers can set collaborative projects for groups of pupils using Studio and the chat feature allows them to communicate in real-time, whether they are at home or in school.
With their individual login, pupils are able to create and share powerful learning in a medium that best suits their expression. They can record video and audio directly to their Studio boards as well as adding text and illustrations.
Usernames (If using the Wonde integration) - The format for a pupil username is <<first initial>><<last name>> for e.g. John Smith would be: jsmith
Please note that in the event of a duplicate record a random number may be added to the username e.g. jsmith24
Usernames (If using the Manual setup) - You can use your preferred username format as long as it is unique in the platform.
Passwords for pupils are set by the class teacher or a site administrator.
The Experience platform also supports Office 365 and Google SSO. This will allow pupils to log into the Experience platform using their O365/Google accounts.
