The Secretary of State for Education advises that schools should ensure that parents and carers are informed and able to access resources used for RSHE. This is something that we fully support at Discovery Education.
Discovery Education’s Health and Relationships Programme provides age-appropriate digital RSHE resources for children in years 1 to 6. These resources are aligned to the 2019 Government Guidance and each topic contains age-appropriate content that increases in complexity and maturity through the year groups, allowing pupils to build on their skills and understanding each year.
Discovery Education believes parents and guardians are critical partners in exploring these topics. Therefore, we have included within the Health and Relationships Programme, presentations and printable materials to help schools communicate with caregivers and show them our resources so they feel comfortable and supported around what their children are learning in school.
Within our Health and Relationships programme, you will find a section dedicated to materials which can be used in parent meetings or in correspondence with families.
To access these materials, simply open the Parental Support tab.
Also in this section, you can find an editable letter for each year group's parents, outlining the topics that will be covered in the year's RSHE curriculum.
In addition to the Parental Support section, you will also find guidance in the Teacher Planning area helping you to successfully deliver the programme to the children and to communicate their learnings to the parents.
