As part of your Discovery Education subscription, you have access to resources built with next-generation technology, designed to excite your students' imagination and enhance your teaching techniques and strategies.
On our Immersive Learning pages you can browse the different resources available at your leisure, but we are providing an overview here.
TimePod Adventures
By downloading the free TimePod Adventures app, your students can travel through time, visiting amazing locations, solving problems and increasing their knowledge in numerous areas. They can even collaborate with their friends or classmates.
The app uses lifesize Augmented Reality that the students can interact with and control.
Each activity has its own teacher guide explaining how to set up for the activity and to support the students on their adventure.
The app can be downloaded on iphones (6 or above) or ipads (2017 or above).
Sandbox AR
Sandbox is a multi award-winning augmented reality scene maker where students can create an environment to experience and share with others. A 'sandbox' is made up of a stage on which you can place objects from a wide range of subjects, all in augmented reality. Objects can be moved around, resized and rotated and labelled. Teachers and students can act as a virtual camera crew, recording the sandbox with voice over and sharing the results.
We also provide ready-made sandboxes and lessons where the students are able to explore and experience different settings and activities which will really bring their learning to life.
The Sandbox app needs to be downloaded for these resources. It is free to download and available for ipads (2017 and above.)
Gamification
We are introducing gamified experiences which use a virtual 3D environment to create learning resources and include gaming elements. The aim of this is to engage students and make them more receptive to further learning on the subject.
Gamified resources are available to all through a web browser.
Interactive Resources
The bank of interactive activities are designed to allow students to work at their own pace through different investigations, challenges or experiments.
The students can become laboratory technicians, entrepreneurs, microbiologists and more, while they have fun learning.
These activities are available on all devices.
Educator Professional Development Resources
To help support you to integrate immersive learning and technology into your classroom, there are a range of educator tools and guides provided.
These e-learning courses and masterclasses will allow you to build your knowledge of the resources available and ensure you are confident about their use in your classroom.
Virtual Field Trips
By using augmented reality, extended reality and mixed reality technologies, it is now possible for your students to gain first-hand knowledge of locations and environments from the convenience of their own classrooms.
Students can visit factories, Shakespeare's first school or even tour NASA's Space Flight Center.
