STEM Connect has been designed to either be used for standalone activities or for each unit to be completed as a project or group of connected lessons.

In order to make the learning as flexible as possible, you are able to assign a section of the unit as a whole or to assign the individual activities or resources.

To assign one of the learning paths (Challenge, Design or Solve), simply open the appropriate section and click on the Assign icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

You will have the option to add your own title and instructions

Then choose the class or pupils you would like to assign the resource to:

If you would like to only select the resource to a group of students rather than the whole class, highlight their class and then click Select Pupils to choose the individual students.

Enter the start date and end date for this assignment and confirm by clicking Assign

The student will then be able to access that learning path and all the activities and resources associated with it.
(Please note, that in order to assist with independent learning, the student will also be able to view the Teacher notes for each learning path.)

The student will be shown a box to check when they have completed the work

Once this box has been checked, the assignment will be shown as complete in the Assignment manager screen.

Alternatively, you might like to assign videos, factfiles or PDF activities for the students to complete in preparation for the next session, or as homework.

In this case, open the Resources and Activities section of the learning page and select which resource you would like to share.

Click on the ellipsis/three dot icon in the resource tile, and select share or assign.  (Assign will be allocated to your students as an activity needing to be completed by a specific date; share will provide you with a url link which can be shared through your school's learning management system or copied to be given to anyone you wish)

Please note if you want to assign or share a Factfile with your students, you will need to choose Assign on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, rather than the ellipsis icon in the corner of the image.  Using assign from the image, will share just that image and not the whole factfile.
