Adding a quiz to video resources is a great way to ensure the students are engaged in the content and to highlight the key learning points within the video.
Open the video and choose Build an Activity from the menu on the right-hand side.
Choose Video Quiz from the options provided
As you watch the video, click on Add New Question to insert a question at that point. (Using the video transcript can be very useful to choose appropriate moments for questions!)
You can choose between 3 formats for the questions (Short Answer, Mulitple Choice, Poll) which are selected from the Question Type drop-down menu.
The time shown indicates the point that the question appears in the video.
Teacher notes can be added to assist with marking or discussion points, and you can allocate a point value to the question if the assignment is to be graded.
Clicking Save & Play saves your question and the video will resume so you can add further questions.
For multiple choice questions, highlight Correct next to the correct answer and this will then be automatically marked, if the assignment is to be graded.
Poll questions allow you to pose a question with various answers so that the results can be used to gauge opinion, test understanding and start discussion.
Once the quiz has been completed, you can share it with colleagues, view is as a student by clicking on the ellipsis icon in the top right-hand corner.
Once created, the quiz can be found in your Quiz section of the main Discovery Education navigation menu
Clicking on the ellipsis icon in the Actions menu in the Quiz Dashboard gives you the option to share, edit, delete, view, assign or launch your quiz.
Launching the quiz sets it live to assign to students or to play it in the classroom.
If you have included points and grading in your quiz, you can keep track of the scores and marking in the Results section of the Dashboard.
